AC/DC — Key Bank Center 2016 NEW
Replacing a legendary frontman is never easy, but AC/DC's 2016 stop in Buffalo had an unusual twist: Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose was behind the microphone. With Brian Johnson sidelined by hearing problems, Rose stepped in for the Rock or Bust World Tour, giving fans a different take on one of hard rock's most enduring bands.
Angus Young remained the evening's main attraction, racing across the stage in his trademark schoolboy outfit and unleashing fiery guitar solos. The set opened with “Rock or Bust” and quickly rolled through classics including “Shoot to Thrill,” “Back in Black,” “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” and “Thunderstruck.” “Hells Bells” delivered its familiar theatrical entrance, while “Whole Lotta Rosie” brought the giant inflatable Rosie back into the spectacle.
The encore was pure AC/DC excess, featuring “Highway to Hell,” “Riff Raff” and “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You),” complete with cannon blasts. Rose's presence made this Buffalo performance unusual, but Angus Young and the band's thunderous riffs kept the focus on the music.
