A Toronto Concert Sampler

This post is a collection of concert clips and short videos gathered from shows I’ve attended around Toronto — a city I’ve come to think of as my unofficial home base for live music. Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to catch an incredible range of performances at some of Toronto’s best venues: Massey Hall, History, The Phoenix, Budweiser Stage, and more. But while I go to a lot of shows, I don’t document every minute of them. This collection reflects that — it’s not a comprehensive record, but rather a highlight reel of the moments that caught my attention, moved me, or simply felt right to capture in the moment.

My approach to filming shows has always been pretty casual. Some nights, I’ll record just a few songs — maybe one from the opener, maybe a couple of crowd favorites from the headliner. Other times, I don’t record anything at all. Part of that comes from wanting to stay in the moment, and part of it comes from logistics. Toronto’s concert calendar is packed, and there are plenty of nights when two great bands are playing different venues at overlapping times. On those nights, I might catch the first half of an 8:00 p.m. show before dashing across town to make it in time for a 10:00 p.m. set. It’s a balancing act between wanting to see as much live music as possible and knowing when to call it a night.

Then there are the smaller shows — the ones in intimate rooms or with up-and-coming artists. I love discovering new acts, but if the vibe isn’t right or if I’ve got an early morning ahead, sometimes I’ll leave before the encore. It’s all part of being a regular on the Toronto concert circuit — chasing the thrill of live performance without turning it into a full-time job.

This batch of videos gives a snapshot of that rhythm. You’ll find clips from:

  • Geese at The Opera House
  • Air at Massey Hall
  • Renee Rapp at Budweiser Stage
  • Remi Wolf at Budweiser Stage
  • Viagra Boys at History
  • Ethel Cain at Queen Elizabeth Theatre
  • Wet Leg at History
  • HAIM at Scotiabank Arena
  • LCD Soundsystem at History
  • Men I Trust at History
  • Metric at Budweiser Stage
  • PUP at History

Each performance has its own energy — from the sweaty chaos of a History crowd to the timeless polish of Massey Hall.

Together, these videos paint a portrait of what it’s like to follow live music around Toronto: a mix of spontaneity, dedication, and pure love for the scene. They’re not meant to be perfect recordings — just glimpses of nights that stood out for one reason or another. Whether it was the way the crowd sang along, a song that hit just right, or a band that surprised me, these are the fragments I decided to hold onto.

Toronto continues to be my favorite city to chase live music — not because I capture every note, but because every show, recorded or not, becomes part of the ongoing soundtrack of this city’s incredible live scene.
